Summer weekends sure fly by, don't they?  It seems there's never enough time to do it all, particularly when you have as beautiful weather as we've been blessed with.  Sun, low humidity, and moderate temps.  It makes working outside a dream.  It's also made the farmer's market tolerable, which is nice.  Sun melts our products and humidity brings out their moisture so we've been quite lucky so far.

The garden is coming along.  Some of my corn is where it should be according to the old adage "knee high by fourth of July" and some of it is, well, not quite knee-high.  I planted some older beet seeds and hadn't taken the time to see if they were still good.  They weren't.  I have 2 beets up and planted about 50.  I'll have to plant more.

Strawberries are done.  Asparagus is pretty much done.  We are getting a good amount of lettuce, scallions, and herbs.  The sugar snap peas are looking very healthy and should be producing soon.  The squash, cukes, peppers and tomatoes are all coming along nicely.  It's so hard to be patient, isn't it?

I made a Strawberry-Rhubarb pie on Saturday.  I plan to make Rhubarb Bread this week too.  We still have a bit of Strawberry-Rhubarb jam left from last year so I won't be canning any this year.  I might can more of the Rhubarb Syrup Concentrate though because it's so delicious mixed with a bit of sparkling water or incorporated into lemonade.  Summer in a glass.

I'm going to try and make time this week or next week to sew a quick bunting from some miscellaneous fabric I have for our farmer's market booth.  I thought that would be a cute touch since our booth is so country-ish.

On the menu this week:  Chicken Teriyaki with Rice and Asparagus; Honey-Soy Grilled Beef Ribs with Home Fries and Salad; Quick Chicken Parm with Pasta and Salad; Buffalo Burgers with Potato Wedges and Coleslaw; Grilled Marinated Chicken Breast with Rice and Grilled Cabbage Wedges; Brats with Mac & Cheese and Coleslaw.
