What a crazy month it's been and it's almost the end of it. Hard to believe that we're into Fall with Winter on the doorstep. I had vowed, when I decided to make positive changes in my life earlier this year beginning with leaving my job and starting a business, that I wouldn't let life continue to happen around me. I wanted to take more time to appreciate the little things. It's hard! It's hard to find time and not go back to taking so much for granted. It's hard to slow down and make the time to look - at the leaves, at the trees, at the people, etc.
This Fall has been amazingly brilliant in color. We were able to enjoy it longer this year, in part because of the warmer temp's but also because we didn't have much rain to knock the leaves off the trees. By now, however, almost all the leaves have fallen and our first frost will be coming any day. My garden will be coming to an end, likely this week.
Coop Girl Lori has finally laid her first egg since we adopted her! We can tell because she's the only full-size Ameraucana and, therefore, lays the only large blue egg. All the others are from the bantams and are teeny tiny. But today, when I went in the coop to collect eggs, there it was. I congratulated her and thanked her for the lovely gift. She is also hanging out with the other girls finally, without me there to protect her.
I've been making soap, lotion and lip balm like a crazy woman. We're getting ready for our first craft fair on November 2nd. Fingers crossed we'll come home with much less product than we went with. Most of the soap should be cured by then so we'll have plenty of goodies to sell.
Today, I made 4 different soaps, lightly cleaned the house, got the laundry caught up, finished an order that I'm shipping tomorrow and then took an hour or two to relax. It was nice. J was working at a home show this weekend so it was just me and the critters. I can't tell you how happy Oliver and Emerson were that I sat down. They lay all over me. Jack put on the "Jackson Show" for us, leaping through the air, and racing through the house. He started out with Mr. Fish in tow, but the boy couldn't be slowed down, so Mr. Fish was dropped by the second lap. Shortly after the show Jack crashed.
Tonight I'm craving brownies, so that's what I'm going to make.
Hoping you had a wonderful weekend!!
