She's (or he's) Here!!!!

February 23, 2010

She's here!!!! Baby Renee was hatched yesterday (Monday) sometime in the afternoon or early evening. Mama Claire is upset by all of the commotion (us), but is a very proud and good mom. I am choosing to live in denial and state that she's a girl, however, Jay has to burst my bubble with his "living in the real world" sense of reality and tell me it's probably a little boy. Baby will be either Renee (girl) or Rene (boy) in memory of our beloved "little Renee" and Renee the First who Little Renee was named after.

We've been congratulating Clyde on his ability to do his "job". As clumsy as he is, I really didn't believe he'd successfully fertilized anything. Guess I was wrong! He's thrilled with the praise, but confused as to the reason.

She's about 24 hours old in these photos and the cutest little thing you've ever seen! We brought Claire, her second un-hatched egg, and Baby Renee in the house. They're living in a dog crate in my craft room (such a multi-purpose room!). It's too cold outside, so it's "home" for now.
When we got home tonight we made Claire give us access to the baby to make sure she's had food and water today. She ate and drank a little for us. Mom was quite nervous and watched every move we made.

Here's "proud Mama" with Baby going back under her wing. So.....anyone have experience with re-introducing Mama and Baby back to the flock???? I'd LOVE some advice!

For instance, carrots are a pretty inexpensive...

$100.00/Week Real Food Meal Plan - Week 7

February 11, 2018

If you’re just tuning in, this is an ongoing series in which I share our weekly meal plan as I (attempt) to convert us to a Whole/Real Food lifestyle.  Our grocery budget is $100.00/week for 2 adults.  Often I make 2 different meals because I am primarily plant-based and my husband is not.  Most of what we eat is made from scratch and any boxed, canned and/or frozen products follow the Real Food...
