New Homesteading Blog Series Coming Soon!

May 09, 2013

Myself and 4 other bloggers will be taking part in a 5-part series titled "How We Homestead".  It's a look into the decision each of us has made to take part in this simple, self-sufficient lifestyle including a look at where we are now, what our daily life looks like, and our dreams and goals for the future.

Wikipedia defines homesteading as "a lifestyle of self-sufficiency".  It further states "homesteading is characterized by subsistence agriculture, home preservation of foodstuffs, and may or may not also involve the small scale production of textiles, clothing, and craftwork for household use or sale."  This is a nice, basic description of the type of lifestyle my husband and I strive for.

The bloggers joining me on this journey are Meg from Little Homestead, Daisy from Maple Hill 101, Tammy from Our Neck Of The Woods and Amber from Making A Home.  Starting next Wednesday we'll be posting every Wednesday for 5 weeks.  All will write on the same topic as a way to explore the many ways of adopting a homesteading lifestyle.  I'm excited about this series an hope you'll visit us and share your experiences as well!

For instance, carrots are a pretty inexpensive...

I’ve chosen to focus on one change per month so that it could not only become a more manageable goal, but I have a better chance at making these new habits...

$100.00/Week Real Food Meal Plan - Week 7

February 11, 2018

If you’re just tuning in, this is an ongoing series in which I share our weekly meal plan as I (attempt) to convert us to a Whole/Real Food lifestyle.  Our grocery budget is $100.00/week for 2 adults.  Often I make 2 different meals because I am primarily plant-based and my husband is not.  Most of what we eat is made from scratch and any boxed, canned and/or frozen products follow the Real Food...
