Goodbye Mr.Clyde

August 09, 2010

Poor Mr. Clyde.

We had to find a new home for him.  He just wouldn't let me in the coop anymore.

He was just doing his job.

It all started when I picked up Baby Renee and she squealed.

He thought I was hurting her and came after me.  He just wouldn't stop and I ended up kicking him to get him to stop.

I felt awful.

From then on out, every time any of the girls made a noise when I was around or when Jay would pick one of them up, he would come at me with his feet and spurs.

Some people we met thru the farmers' market said they would take him.

He left on Saturday.

He's now on a real farm with cows, pigs and more than 200 chickens with only 1 other rooster to compete with.

Jay is very sad.  I am sad as well, but I couldn't keep hurting him to defend myself.

It's inhumane.

The girls are doing well.  Lucy Lou has stepped right up to make sure everyone knows what they can/can't do.

We'll miss the crowing.  We'll miss the excitement over sprouts, freeze-dried meal worms and scrambled eggs.

He'll have a good life.

He sure was a handsome boy.

For instance, carrots are a pretty inexpensive...

$100.00/Week Real Food Meal Plan - Week 7

February 11, 2018

If you’re just tuning in, this is an ongoing series in which I share our weekly meal plan as I (attempt) to convert us to a Whole/Real Food lifestyle.  Our grocery budget is $100.00/week for 2 adults.  Often I make 2 different meals because I am primarily plant-based and my husband is not.  Most of what we eat is made from scratch and any boxed, canned and/or frozen products follow the Real Food...
